Celebrating ‘World Chocolate Day’ the FoodSpace Way
Indulgence should never come at the cost of the planet. That’s why this ‘World Chocolate Day’, celebrated on the 7th of July, we’re shining a light on how we approach one of the world’s most-loved treats—chocolate—with a sustainable, ethical, and local-first mindset.
Unlike many mainstream options, the chocolate products we use in our restaurants contain no palm oil. This decision is rooted in our mission to reduce environmental harm and deforestation associated with palm oil production. Instead, we seek out alternatives that align with our sustainability values while still delivering on taste and quality.
As part of our pledge to support better farming in the cocoa industry, we proudly partner with chocolatiers for special events and seasonal offerings. We deep dive into the industry to ensure that not only are the farming practices better but also that no child labour is used.
Our Culinary Director, Conor Spacey, is passionate about changing how we think about everyday ingredients—including chocolate.
"Chocolate is something that brings people joy, but we have to ask ourselves where it comes from and how it's made. We want to show that you can enjoy great-tasting chocolate that’s made fairly and doesn’t harm the environment. Sustainability shouldn’t be a luxury—it should be the standard.”
Throughout the year we aim to challenge the norm and redefine what responsible food service looks like—right down to the last bite of dessert.
You can enjoy chocolate knowing that we’ve sourced it with care—for people, planet, and palate.
