The Heart of Hospitality: Edward Ronan
Edward Ronan brings warmth, positivity, and genuine passion to hospitality. As a Hospitality Lead at FoodSpace, he thrives on creating welcoming experiences, building connections with customers, and ensuring every day runs smoothly from the very first coffee of the morning.
A Passion for People
For Edward, hospitality has always been about people. Whether working front of house, in cafés, or supporting kitchen operations, Edward has built his career around connection, service, and creating positive experiences for others. Now working as Hospitality Lead with FoodSpace, he brings energy, attentiveness, and a genuine passion for customer care into every shift.
Finding His Place in Hospitality
Although Edward has only recently joined FoodSpace, his experience in hospitality stretches across a variety of customer-facing roles. From café environments to store management in Kilkenny, he quickly realised that working directly with people was where he thrived most.
“I’m naturally a people person,” Edward explains. “I enjoy interacting with customers, understanding what they need, reading body language, and making sure everyone feels looked after.”
For Edward, front-of-house service offers something that office-based roles never could — the opportunity to connect, support, and build relationships every day. Joining FoodSpace gave him the chance to step into something new and help shape the experience from the very beginning.
A Day in the Life
Edward’s mornings begin early. Arriving at 7 a.m., he starts by getting the coffee ready before preparing meeting rooms and setting up the restaurant for the day ahead. Throughout service, he focuses on ensuring clients and customers are taken care of, responding to hospitality requests and helping create a smooth and welcoming environment for everyone who walks through the door.
His role is fast-paced and customer-focused, but it’s exactly the kind of environment where Edward feels most at home.
Life Outside of Work
Outside of hospitality, Edward values balance and wellbeing. He enjoys going to the gym, running, hiking in the mountains, and visiting beaches such as Carne Beach for fresh air and relaxation. Weekends often involve exploring new restaurants and discovering new food experiences, something he describes as a true passion.
“I love food, which is why I go to the gym for balance,” he says with a smile.
At home, Edward enjoys cooking for himself and his husband, taking time to unwind with good food and quiet evenings together. Catching up with friends and reconnecting with loved ones is also something he values deeply.
Inspired by Belief and Opportunity
One of Edward’s biggest motivations came from a previous employer who recognised potential in him before he fully saw it himself. That encouragement helped build his confidence and opened doors to exciting opportunities, including helping launch a new business where Edward became an integral part of the floor team.
The experience proved hugely successful, earning recognition through award mentions and allowing him to grow within a faster-paced hospitality environment. Alongside this, Edward also developed a strong passion for coffee and became internationally trained as a barista, a skill and craft he continues to love.
Learning Patience and Trusting the Process
When reflecting on the biggest lessons he has learned, Edward points to patience.
“I’m someone who wants everything perfect straight away,” he says. “But I’ve learned that everything takes time, and you have to allow yourself space to grow.”
That mindset became especially important during busy service periods where hundreds of customers needed to be served within a short timeframe. Through teamwork, communication, and learning to trust those around him, Edward discovered the importance of working together rather than carrying pressure alone.
A Culture Built on Kindness
Describing the FoodSpace culture in three words, Edward chooses: happy, enthusiastic, and kind.
For anyone entering hospitality, his advice is simple but meaningful:
“Ask questions, be kind to yourself, and have patience.”
The Heart of Hospitality
Perhaps Edward’s outlook is best summed up by the phrase he uses to describe his work: “Eternal sunshine.”
For him, hospitality is about bringing positivity into every interaction, no matter how busy the day becomes. It’s a philosophy rooted in kindness, connection, and always showing up with a smile.
Edward Ronan represents the heart of hospitality: someone who combines professionalism with warmth, and who understands that the smallest interactions can leave the biggest impression.
Thank you, Edward!
